Livermore, CA (November 15, 2016) --- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) recently
awarded Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare’s, 26-bed Skilled Nursing Facility, on the Livermore
campus, a FIVE-STAR overall rating. This is important because while all skilled nursing facilities
are under the same state and federal guidelines, not all adhere to them in the same manner.
“The 5-Star rating for our Skilled Nursing Unit further demonstrates the commitment of
SHC-ValleyCare staff to go above and beyond in providing superior care to our patients, and to
consistently offer our community the highest quality care possible,” said Scott Gregerson,
Stanford Health Care – ValleyCare President.
The star ratings are derived from three performance measures including: state
inspections, staffing levels and quality measures. Stanford Heath Care – ValleyCare scored
above average in state and national averages for quality measures, which includes: functional
rehabilitation assessment/improvement toward goals; pain management; and administering
seasonal flu and pneumonia vaccines. According to the CMS report, SHC-ValleyCare received
no deficiencies from the unannounced onsite health inspection.
"Our success in rehabilitating our patients stems from the overall patient-centric culture
and attitudes that our staff embodies. At Stanford Health-ValleyCare SNF, we strive to make
the patient's and family's experience as positive as possible during a very difficult time," said
Medical Director, Stanley Ng, M.D.
CMS states that the Five-Star Quality Rating System was created to provide consumers,
their families, and caregivers an easy way to understand assessments of nursing home quality,
making meaningful distinctions between high and low performing nursing home facilities.
